Goblet-skyphos

Asia Minor, late 2nd/early 1st century BCE

Site: Panticapaeum (Kerch)

Ochre-coloured ceramic clay. Vessel in the form of a taller goblet-skyphos with two vertical fluted strap handles. Considering the groove around the rim, it is believed that the dish originally had a lid. Barbotine decoration of large elongated drops in relief. The top two-thirds of the body and the strap handles are covered with a dark-brown thin coating of matte gloss. The lower section is the colour of the fired clay.
